Frequently asked questions

Windows, setup, delivery and returns.

The camera

Where does SmileCam mount?

Fully inside your home. The lens face sits against the inside of the glass and looks out. The white rear, the bracket and the cable all stay in the room.

What does it need at night?

Some light outside, such as a porch or street light. Results depend on the amount of light, the window and reflections. It does not produce a clear colour view in total darkness.

What do the two views show, and how far can I zoom?

See the wider scene and a closer view together on one screen in O-KAM Pro. Adjust the zoom from 1× to 10× while keeping the wider view visible. See the actual app screenshots. Image quality depends on lighting, distance and your window.

Does it detect motion?

Yes. SmileCam supports motion and human detection, with alerts sent to O-KAM Pro. You can adjust detection sensitivity and frequency in the app. Extra detection controls may require an optional paid plan; check the app for availability and pricing.

Can I adjust detection settings?

Yes. In O-KAM Pro, the Monitoring Function settings include detection sensitivity and detection frequency. Extra detection controls and cloud services may require an optional paid plan; check the app for availability and pricing.

How does two-way audio work?

Use O-KAM Pro to listen or speak through the camera. Because it sits inside the room, treat it as an in-room intercom. It is not intended for conversations with people outside through a closed window.

Why not a video doorbell?

Rentals can make wired installation impractical, and doorbells are designed around an entryway rather than every driveway angle. SmileCam mounts inside a suitable window and can be aimed at the area you want to watch.

Your window

Will it work on my window?

Clear glass is the best starting point. Double glazing can work with the lens face close to the glass. Tint, low-E coatings and reflective film can reduce the view. A photo helps us discuss placement, but cannot confirm a coating or guarantee image quality.

Can it be used outdoors?

The inside-window setup is the simplest starting point. SmileCam can face either way in its bracket. No weatherproof or IP rating is currently specified, so contact us before choosing an exposed outdoor position.

Upstairs, or looking down at a driveway?

The angled bracket can help aim the view down toward a driveway. The straight bracket suits a more level view. The best choice depends on your window and viewing angle; check live view before attaching the adhesive pad.

Setup and the app

Do I need to drill?

No. The bracket uses an adhesive pad on the glass. Check the surface first, avoid delicate films, and allow for possible adhesive residue when removing it.

Which app does it use?

Use O-KAM Pro on iPhone or Android. Follow the in-app pairing instructions. Live view and local recording do not require a paid plan; optional paid services are shown in the app.

Can the whole household watch?

Yes. Up to four phones can watch live at the same time, and several cameras can sit in the one account.

What Wi-Fi and power do I need?

Use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and continuous USB-C power from a 5V / 2A wall adapter (not included). Test the signal at your window before mounting. Dual-band routers can work; if pairing fails, follow your router’s instructions to connect using 2.4 GHz.

Recording and fees

Is there a monthly fee?

No subscription is needed for live view, motion and human alerts, or local recording and playback on your memory card. Cloud backup and some additional features are optional paid services.

Where does the footage go?

Onto the 16GB microSD card that comes free with every camera. The slot takes cards up to 256GB if you want more days of recording. Footage stays on the card unless you choose to turn on the optional cloud backup.

Which features need a paid plan?

Live view, motion and human alerts, and local card recording work without a subscription. Cloud backup and extra detection features are optional paid services in O-KAM Pro.

Delivery, returns and warranty

How long does delivery take?

We deliver to Australia, the US, the UK, France, Germany and Canada. Orders usually dispatch within 2 business days; estimated delivery is 8–12 business days from order. Standard shipping is charged at the market equivalent of A$9.95 and is free from A$125. See our delivery policy.

What is the change-of-mind policy?

Notify us within 30 days of delivery to start a change-of-mind return. Returns go to Australia; email us for the return address and instructions. You pay the direct return postage. UK/EU statutory cancellation rights take priority over conflicting conditions, including inspection and refund rights. See the full returns and warranty policy.

You may carefully set up and test your view within this period, including using the supplied adhesive pads. Return the camera and accessories undamaged, except for normal use of the pads. See the full returns policy.

What if my camera arrives damaged or develops a fault?

Contact us with your order number and a description of the fault. We cover the approved return cost for a damaged or faulty item. After assessment, we arrange a replacement or refund as described in our returns and warranty policy. Mandatory consumer rights apply in addition.

How long is the warranty?

Three years against manufacturing faults, in addition to mandatory consumer rights that apply where you live.

Renting, strata and the rules

Can I use it in a rental?

The bracket attaches with an adhesive pad, so no drilling is needed. Check your lease and building rules before fitting it. Removal can leave adhesive residue; avoid delicate coatings and follow the care instructions.

What about strata, body corporate, HOA or condominium rules?

Building and shared-property rules vary. Even though SmileCam mounts inside, your window or the view from it may still be covered by a lease, by-laws, HOA rules or condominium rules. Check the rules that apply to your home if you’re unsure. General information, not legal advice.

Am I allowed to film the street?

Rules vary by country, state and local law. Aim the camera at your own driveway, entrance or vehicle, avoid neighbours’ private spaces, and check local rules before recording audio. Read the general guide.
